The next\u00a0IRNPPC conference<\/a>\u00a0will take place at the University of Chicago on November 5th and 6th, 2026. This conference will be a follow-up to our\u00a0workshop in Paris<\/a> that took place in September 2025, focusing\u00a0on textual\/visual interaction in postcolonial print and mixed media.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

WORKSHOP
\n<\/span><\/strong>\"\"Global Fascisms
\n<\/strong>June 30, 2026 | University College London<\/p>\n

This one-day workshop organised by the\u00a0UCL Centre for Collective Violence, Holocaust and Genocide Studies <\/a>and the School of Advanced Study (University of London) will bring together a range of voices in terms of regional focus (Africa, Asia, the Americas, and Europe), institutional location, and career stage to present new work that reconsiders the complex legacies of fascism, the Second World War and genocide in global context.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0workshop is part of a wider move to de-provincialise and historicise the current rise of far-right and fascist politics. Despite transnational trends in fascism studies and related fields, the public and academic understanding of fascism and its legacies is still Eurocentric. Much work on the \u2018alt-right\u2019 is also ahistorical. We will look at the ways in which a paradoxically transnational ideology played out in regions that are often overlooked in the study of fascism. We will also consider the resources available from the study of historical anti-fascist movements for teachers, activists and researchers dealing with far-right political mobilization in the current day.<\/p>\n

The congress brings together specialists\u00a0working on Africa\u00a0across different disciplines within the humanities and social sciences, literature and philosophy, environmental sciences, and economic sciences. These meetings are an invitation to go beyond disciplinary and institutional boundaries and offer researchers the opportunity to exchange ideas on common research themes by comparing methodologies, historical periods, and geographical areas of the continent. Uncharted History of the Dalit Panther Movement in Gujarat and the Significance of Panther Magazine\u00a0(2023\u20132025)<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Supported by the India Foundation for the Arts, this project led by Pankti Desai focuses on\u00a0Panther<\/i>, a Gujarati little magazine published between 1974 and 1981 and associated with the Dalit Panther movement Gujarat, which functioned as a key site of anti-caste dissent, radical literary expression, and counter-public discourse. As part of this work, a digital archive of Panther<\/i>magazine has been created, comprising 57 digitized and catalogued issues, accessible to researchers upon request, alongside audio interviews with poets and editors documenting first-hand histories. Researchers interested in consulting the collection for scholarly purposes may do so through <\/span>India Foundation for the Arts<\/a> for research purposes.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
